Exchange Teacher Programs

Are any of you familiar with Exchange Teacher Programs. We have just started one with a school in Germany and I get to go teach there next semester. There are many things we are learning just getting ready for this, like now I need to go out and buy some International travel medical insurance because our US Medical insurance may or may not work there. I also have to fill out a work visa, figure out a bank to use for my pay, and finalize my schedule as there semesters are much different than ours. I haven't even looked at the whole tax issue, since someone said some of that income may be tax free, but I'm still being paid by my school corporation. Have any of you participated in an Exchange Teacher program before? If so, got any tips?
