With your work in Academic Technology, I recommend you take a look at Wiziq's virtual classroom and authorstream's power point presentation platform. Both are web based platforms, have a bunch of features and free basic service. Here’s a public class recording you might find of interest.
Summer was nice. I had the opportunity to attend some amazing workshops this summer and am so excited to begin using all the new tools I learned. I wish I had been able to do some traveling this summer, but I will next year so all is ok. My son has been in Florida for the past month but gets back next week. I will be rushing to get him ready to start school as he returns a few days before school begins. How was your summer? Are you ready to go back?
In the last few months we have built a relationship with a few schools in Missouri using wikispaces for the students to communicate with each other. The teachers and I have also used skype and I have been fortunate enough to speak with some students there as well as the district superintendent! He was pretty amazed at what we are doing! It has taken time to build the wiki and the relationships but well worth the effort! I personally have learnt so much and our students LOVE having OS friends!
We ran a joint environmental science camp, simultaneaously conducted in Australia, Wales and the US and got achieved some outstanding outcomes - both intended and not intended.
I am originally from a small country town in NSW called Finley (actually a farm outside of Finley). I do not have a class at present. I have been offline for about 9 months now, building the capacity of teachers in using technology in our region. Starting 27th January 09 I am to work on some projects to "explore innovative practice" across the state. So hence our interest on online delivery as NSW is a very big state and if we can get some good practice established, Australia is a very big country! We ahve vast distances like you however we are fairly sparcly populated.
HI Cindy
I am an emints teacher in Australia and am friends with Dianna Dell and Stephanie Bengston. I also am following METC on Twitter. I have been in touch with Carmen Marty about helping to test some ways to stream parts of your conference out to us in Australia.
I am very interested in helping out as part of my role is to try innovative ways to provide TPL to teachers particularly in rural and remote locations who cannot otherwise attend such events.
